Community Education is an opportunity for local citizens and community schools, agencies and institutions to become active partners in addressing education and community concerns. Community Education brings community members together to identify and link community needs and resources in a manner that helps people to help themselves raise the quality of life in their communities.
Community Education is a unique concept that embraces these beliefs:
- Education is a lifelong process
- Everyone in the community shares responsibility for the mission of educating all members of the community
- Citizens have a right and a responsibility to be involved in determining community needs, identifying community resources, and linking those needs and resources to improve their community
Community Education provides programs in adult learning, after school enrichment, one day trips and travel, and opportunities for adults with disabilities.
Community Education distributes 4 brochures a year, Fall, Winter, Spring and Summer. Fall Brochures are distributed early in September and classes run mid September to early December. The Winter brochure is released late November and you will find classes from early December into the middle of February. Community Education's Spring brochure has classes that are held from the middle of February through the end of May and this brochure comes out in early February. The Summer brochure is our youth only catalog that offers students many fun opportunities throughout the summer months of June through August.
The Fall, Winter and Spring brochures are delivered to your home in the Shopper. The Summer brochures are sent home with students in their backpacks the first week of May. If you need an additional brochure or have questions stop into the Community Education office at 912 First Avenue NE.
