In this week's Alumni Spotlight, we catch up with alumna Emily Quam.
What are you doing now?
I am a Licensed Social Worker/Admission Coordinator for Long Term Care.
How did APS prepare you for this role?
My family moved to Austin the summer before my Sophomore year. The long lasting friendships & connections that I made helped to mold me into the person that I am. By taking a class my senior year that allowed me to assist in an elementary classroom on a daily basis I learned that education was not what I wanted to pursue, even though this had been my thought since 4th grade! I also was able to learn first hand that not everyone has the same story or background & to respect everyone’s differences.
What is your advice for current Packers?
Get involved. I feel like that is said in these a lot, but man is it great advice! Get involved in whatever interests you. I had great experiences and built great friendships by being in choir and traveling to NYC & Nashville. Many of my best friends also came from cheering on the Packer football team every Friday and playing basketball.
Who at APS inspired you?
Mrs. Carver, my chemistry teacher. She was great.
What was your favorite meal in the cafeteria?
I would have to say my favorite was the beefy nachos!
